Excellent cosmetic condition and fully working

General Pentax AF200T Information

Pentax flash designed for the company's manual focus SLR cameras, plus many AF, digital and medium format models (some with restrictions - see full list below). On suitable cameras the flash sets the shutter speed and/or aperture automatically and displays a flash ready indication in the viewfinder.

TTL (Through The Lens) flash control system on suitable AF, manual focus and early digital cameras (see list below) for extremely accurate exposures, compensating automatically for bounce flash, filters, extension tubes/bellows and other factors. Works automatically in all exposure modes including Program, setting the shutter speed and/or aperture automatically as appropriate. Non-TTL manual focus and later digital cameras work with conventional dedicated auto flash control, with the shutter speed set automatically when charged, and apertures set manually (aperture priority auto mode works well).

Guide number is 20m (65 feet) with ISO 100 film. Two conventional auto exposure ranges are available, from 1.4 to 7.1m (4.6 to 23.3 feet) at f/2.8 or 0.6 to 3.5m (2 to 11.5 feet) at f/5.6 with ISO 100. Thyristor circuitry for faster recycling in auto modes. Manual override is also possible, with settings for full, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8th power. As with all flash units, actual range will depend on the conditions. The flash covers lenses from 35mm wide angle upwards, equivalent to 23mm (digital), or 55mm (645) and 70mm (6x7) medium format respectively.

A comprehensive exposure table on the rear includes film speeds from ASA (ISO) 25 to 800, distances from 0.6 to 20m (2 to 65 feet) and apertures from f/1.4 to f/32. Ready light with test button provided. The flash is very nicely made, in Japan. A locking wheel allows the flash to be fixed tightly to the camera's hot shoe. It even has a serial number! The battery compartment has a proper hinge, and is captive so it can't be lost.

Power is supplied by 4x standard AA batteries (included), and disposable alkaline or rechargeable NiCd or NiMH types can be used. It's very compact at only around 100mm (4 inches) tall, and weighs only 175g without batteries.

This flash can be used on many Pentax 35mm and medium format AF SLR cameras including the SFX (SF1), SFXn (SF1n), SF7, Z-1 (PZ-1), Z-1P (PZ-1P), Z-10 (PZ-10), Z-20 (PZ-20), Z-70 (PZ-70), MZ-3, MZ-5 (ZX-5), MZ-5n (ZX-5n), MZ-6 (ZX-L), MZ-7 (ZX-7), MZ-10 (ZX-10), MZ-30 (ZX-30), MZ-50 (ZX-50) MZ-50 (ZX-60) MZ-S and *ist 35mm cameras, and the 645N and 645NII medium format models.

Compatible with the Pentax *ist D, DS and DS2, and the Samsung GX-1S digital SLRs in TTL mode, with ISO settings of 200 or 400 recommended. We've checked this flash an *ist DS, and it works very well. The trigger voltage is very low and safe at under 8v, which is well within the ISO limit of 24v and Pentax's stated limit of 30v for DSLRs.

Also usable on other digital models with restrictions, including the Pentax *ist DL, DL2, K100D, K100D Super, K110D, K10D, K20D, K200D, K-m (K2000), K-x, K-r, K-5, K-7 and 645D, or the equivalent Samsung GX-1L, GX-10 or GX-20 models. These require P-TTL flash units for full compatibility, but this one will work in aperture priority mode (aperture set manually), with shutter speed set automatically when charged, and flash ready status shown in the viewfinder. Not compatible with program modes.

Also works on manual focus SLR cameras with TTL Auto flash control including the Pentax Super A (Super Program), LX and the Pentax 645. Usable on the Pentax 67 II with a Hot Shoe Grip and Sync Cord (not included).

Dedicated auto flash works on models such as the ME Super, ME-F, MG, MV, MV-1, Program A (Program Plus), Super A (Super Program), A3 (A3000), P30 (P3), P30N (P3N), P30T (P3T), P50 (P5) and MZ-M (ZX-M). The shutter speed is set automatically when the flash is charged in aperture priority mode (aperture set manually), and flash ready status is shown in the viewfinder. Not compatible with program modes.

Auto or manual, non-dedicated operation on the Pentax ME, MX, KM, KX, K2, K1000, Spotmatic and other M42 cameras, plus the EI-2000 digital.

Looking after your camera

Use a Camera Bag

A camera bag does more than just protect the camera against scratches and dust: It keeps it safe from rain because many are waterproof on the outside.

Be Very Careful Around the LCD Screen and Camera Lens

Use only special equipment to clean your camera’s LCD screen and camera lens. Buy a special cleaning kit that includes liquid solutions, microfiber cloths and brushes that have been specially designed to clean your camera lens.

Never Leave Your Batteries in Your Camera for Too Long
Many camera batteries are now alkaline or lithium formats. If you keep your camera with the batteries inside of it in a moist area, then the batteries can get corrosive. So if you’re thinking about just putting your camera on the shelf for several months, do yourself a favor and remove them.

Turn Your Camera Off Prior to Doing Anything

Before you do anything to your camera, always keep in mind that it should be turned off first. No matter what it is—swapping lenses, changing memory cards or disconnecting or attaching cables—your camera should be turned off.

Cold and Wet Weather Can Wreak Havoc on Your Camera Body
Take your camera out only in a waterproof bag. If the weather’s unusually cold, just wrap your camera in a plastic bag that has silica desiccant packets for the reduction of moisture. It’s also a smart idea to have a soft towel with you to wipe off any moisture, just in case it should get on your camera.

Good Memory Card Care Is Good Camera Care

Only transport your memory cards inside of a protective caseMake sure the memory cards stay dust-free at all times. When removing memory cards, make sure you do so indoors or in non-dusty situations.
Make sure that you keep memory cards only in cool places. Never keep them in places where they may heat up, like dashboards or glove compartments.
Never place your memory cards close to magnetic sources. Examples of magnetic sources are things such as audio speakers, TV monitors and actual magnets.

Use a Filter to Protect Your Camera Lens

The lens of your camera is naturally fragile. As such, it’s susceptible to scratches, cracks, dents…you name it. A UV filter will not only will you give your lens a fighting chance, but you’ll also enhance the quality of your pictures.

Condensation Can Be Controlled

Condensation normally happens when you move your camera between different temperatures.
Allow your camera a chance to naturally get used to the hotter environment. Don’t place it inside a closed plastic bag when transporting it between different temperatures! Just let the camera sit in the humid temperature for a while, until condensation disappears.
If this still doesn’t get rid of all of it, you can utilize a soft cloth to wipe away any remaining moisture and marks left behind from the condensation.
